About Roman Fantasies
A poor relative of Signora Eulalia Borgetti, the one who runs a dry cleaner on the Canal Grande in Modena. Sofronia and Bibiana, the daughters of the widow Borgetti, were a little ashamed of their cousin, who always went about in a worn gray dressing gown and endlessly cleaned and suede jackets, ironed trousers and shirts. Between themselves, the sisters called her "that mess." Her mother took her into the house out of mercy, and also because she worked for two and did not have to pay tax for her - a relative. It sometimes happened that the sisters also had some good feelings, and then they took her with them to the cinema, where they bought her the cheapest ticket to the very last row. "They are so kind, my girls!" said Signora Eulalia, carefully watching Delfina, in case she took another piece of stuffed pork leg. But Delphine did not even think of taking another piece. And I drank water, not juice. And from fruits, she ate only the cheapest apples, not tangerines. And she washed the dishes after dinner, while Sofronia and Bibiana ate chocolates. And she also went to church, because after all, at least someone from the family should go there.
