A last-minute Christmas shopping and she is first mugged, abducted and dumped in the countryside by a man disguised as Santa Claus and then 'rescued' by serial killer JOE, an otherwise cheerful but moody carpenter who keeps his son RICK and wife LOUISE virtual prisoners at a remote house.The second part of the novel begins on Christmas day, a year later, after Chrissie could escape from the remote house of the psychopathic and murderous poisoner Joe. Now he is the grandfather of her three-month-old baby PHOEBE.Many years later in part three of the novel, Joe is released from prison and the Christmas season arrives. Chrissie, who is a London property investor is happy with her boyfriend TERRY, but is haunted by nightmares of her, now fourteen years of age, daughter Phoebe, being abducted by her paternal grandfather Joe.In this fast-paced contemporary and chilling psychological THRILLER there are many themes.
