About NO GOOD DEED: A Carl Tanner Thriller
Tanner's got another mess on his hands, this time involving his girlfriend's Aunt Lou, a seventy-something teenager who can't give up putting the moves on a hot guy like Tanner. Even when Jan is standing right in Lou's new mobile home, in an upscale 55+ enclave overlooking Tampa Bay. She's been burgled three times in the month since she moved in. Each incident has left part of the trailer trashed (but don't ever use those two words together around Lou). While a tropical storm noodles around the area building up steam, Tanner has a weak moment and agrees to find out what's going on. Before long the blood starts flowing, bullets fly, and a variety of odd characters purporting to be Homeland Security show up. Tanner, after two decades flying helicopters for the USNavy, knows high-level bullshit when he hears it, and doubles down on his efforts. With disastrous results that involve not only his girlfriend Jan Jones, but her teenage daughter Ashleigh and an eighty-something scarf-draped Cuban refugee whose deft hand with a machete almost saves the day.
