About Murder On The Mountain: A Southern Mystery

January 1970 was the beginning of a new decade. Twenty-year old Jo Stallworth and her husband Richard welcome in the new year with their family and friends on Wilhite Mountain. Jo has lived on this mountain all her life, working in her daddy’s store, and happily married. Set in Morgan County, Alabama, Wilhite Mountain is home to decent, friendly people. But there are also marijuana dealers, moonshiners, and thieves who live on the mountain. Jo Stallworth would never pick up a stranger, but she recognized the person walking down the road. Her daddy cautioned her often to not pickup anyone when she was making trips to the bank, not even people she knew. But today was so cold, bitter cold. Snow and ice lay on the ground, and the temperature in the low teens. There was no harm in offering the person a ride on a day like this. She wondered why the person was afoot in this kind of weather? Jo slowed her truck, and came to a stop. She rolled down the window. “You need a ride?” she asked. A smile crossed the killer’s face. “Sure do.” Later that night Jo’s body was found on a garbage heap deep in the woods on Wilhite Mountain. Among the people on Wilhite Mountain there is now a darker, more dangerous predator—a murderer. Murder On The Mountain is more than just a detective story, but the story of the people who live on Wilhite Mountain.
