About Mosquito Ridge: Megan Riley Mystery Thriller Series Book 5
The fire had burned through the top of the blue vinyl suitcase. I took a moment to recognize the charred, spider-like object hanging out. When it clicked into place, I recoiled. “Oh God, it’s a human hand.” After serving ten years as a homicide detective, Megan Riley has a hard time staying in her lane as chief investigator for the district attorney. While investigating a spate of arson blazes, Megan learns of a fire at her friend Cici’s home and rushes to the scene. She arrives to find the house gone, but it’s a grisly discovery in the garden shed that catches everyone’s attention. Dead bodies in suitcases are not common in Stockbridge. But Julia Bryant's body was found three months ago, and now there is another victim. Both women were scantily dressed and stuffed in suitcases. There are too many similarities to deny that they were killed by the same person. An electrician named Frank Gabra is currently in custody for Julia Bryant’s murder. If he was behind bars at the time of the latest murder, then police arrested an innocent man. Tension ratchets up when Cici’s fourteen-year-old daughter disappears. A scribbled note warns Megan that the girl will die if she doesn't back off the investigation. When more bodies turn up, Megan must act fast to uncover the perpetrator before the person holding the missing girl makes good on his threat.
