About Lost Soul: A Psychological Thriller
Nightmares often cause us to rise from our sleep in fear — heart beating one million miles per hour, while we search our surroundings for ghost-like figures to appear. The coast is usually clear, so we drift back off to sleep most of the time. Sometimes, it’s a vision that’s being given to us, but we’re too afraid to dissect the clues to pursue the mission. What if you didn’t have a choice to bring your nightmare to reality? For Araceli, the main character of her repetitive dream shows himself in real life. He’s a normal guy. A single father of two young boys, who both attend the elementary school Araceli’s daughter goes to. Upon first glance, Araceli is frightened by the man’s presence. She tries to ignore him, but with his youngest son and her daughter in the same class, it’s impossible. Besides, she pins her nightmare as fictional and decides to open up as another classroom parent. The monster she thought he was, he didn’t seem to be anymore. After a couple of conversations, she learns he has a form of a speech problem, which is why he chooses to keep mute and greets her most days with a wave. One day, Sim invites Araceli over to his house for a playdate for the kids. This is when Araceli’s nightmare really becomes alive. Listening to the news anchor with a breaking story, they learn together that there’s a serial killer on the loose. Sim, holding a knife in his hand while slicing potatoes, turns his face toward Araceli. His side smirk sends a whirlwind of chills through her body in that exact moment. In front of her stood the man in her nightmare, and she knew she wouldn’t be leaving the home without some form of fight.
