About the book
About Lord of the Isle: On their way to New Zealand in 1861, thirteen boys shipwrecked on a deserted island fight for their survival … and against each other
It is the year 1861. Thirteen boys from Britain and Ireland are shipwrecked on a deserted tropical island. Their families – all settlers bound for New Zealand – have been decimated by a strange illness on board their ship, and only the boys have managed to scramble ashore alive. The thirteen boys try to survive as best they can in an environment completely alien to them, but soon irreconcilable rivalries come to the fore, reflecting their class backgrounds, greed, envy, and jealousies. Inspired by William Golding’s classic masterpiece ‘Lord of the Flies’, Lord of the Isle has a much darker, and more psychological, hue. Read another gripping, dark, and psychological thriller by the author of ‘The mountain’, ‘The machine’, ‘AD 2817’ and ‘The dream’. By exploring the darkest corners of the souls of 12-year-old boys fighting both for survival and against each other, Lord of the Isle will take you into the darkest recesses of child psychology and the psychological intricacies of a desperate fight for survival. Will the boys overcome their hatred for each other? Will they all be able to survive in the harsh tropical island wilderness? What factions will emerge fighting for the scarce resources the island has to offer, and will one of them eventually become the leader – the Lord of the Isle?
