About Las Casas by The Ocean
In the town of Las Casas by the Ocean all people, regardless of caste, are treated as equals. Fifteen-year-old María, the daughter of the landowner, feels the weight of expectations after her quinceañera. Torn between the demands of becoming a proper lady in colonial society and her deep yearning to uncover the truth about her mother, who died when she was an infant, Maria's world begins to unravel. As she takes on more responsibilities at her family's estate, she uncovers the secrets her father has been hiding during his increasingly frequent absences. Secrets that may soon threaten the safe heaven that is her town. As María delves deeper, she soon realizes that nothing in this new world is as it seems.
