I never thought I would really have to use my backup plan. Unfortunately, because of the turns my life had taken since my long gone days of innocence and happiness, I had gotten used to the idea of spending many years, if not the rest of my life, in prison for murder. Before the events that had turned me into an executioner I had planned to be Brad Shaw for the rest of my life. Brad Shaw was the name given to me by my parents. It was the name my one time friends and co-workers knew me by. Brad Shaw was to have worked at the job he loved until he was ready to retire. Brad Shaw was a firefighter working in the community in which he had grown up and chosen to live in. If my life had remained on the path once imagined I should have watched my younger sister, Janet Shaw, grow up, fall in love, get married and have a few nephews and nieces for me to spoil. Hell, if life was fair and had followed the dream I might have even met a special lady with whom I would have fallen in love with. That is how it might have been if life had been fair.
