About Identical: A Psychological Thriller

She knows what you're thinking, after all, you're Identical. Identical is a nail-biting psychological thriller of approximately 63,800 words that speaks to many of those with mental illness and those who struggle with alcohol/substance abuse. At its core, this novel follows a mother in her early thirties struggling with post-partum psychosis. As she navigates her way through the treacherous waters of motherhood while fighting off her own trauma, she is faced with news of a long-lost twin who has been found alive. Although her family thinks this news will better her condition, a sinister dark truth beneath the surface will be revealed instead. Identical is a spine-chilling psychological thriller laced with twists that will cause any reader unsettling excitement but will leave them anxious to find an answer between the lines of each chapter. Marissa (Mars) Lakeridge suffers from a disturbed mind brought on by her post-partum psychosis and struggles to navigate the path through motherhood alongside her neglectful, cheating husband. As Mars realizes life might have taken a turn for the worse, her parents present her with the news of her long-lost twin, whom she was separated from at birth. As she attempts to reconcile her marriage, she starts doubting the authenticity of her new-found sibling. The empty glare in her sisters' eyes is unsettling, her curiosity hanging on every question is nerve-racking; something is off and Marissa knows it. Mars is put in a fight or flight situation with her back to the wall, and if she doesn’t act quickly, it could be the end of her family. As the novel comes to a close, the reader will leave questioning whether they ever knew who to trust in the first place.
