About Evil Lurks Among Us

The mind boggles, to contemplate the capacity of some persons to inflict the most atrocious criminal acts upon other human beings, some so violent as to truly rock us to the core. What is even more disturbing is the fact that many of the perpetrators lived among us at some point in their own lives. They were our neighbours, school mates, the person who made conversation while sitting next to us on the bus; maybe even a coworker. These sociopaths would commit these heinous acts and, in some cases, quietly continue interacting with the public who may remain oblivious to the proximity of the violent offender; that is, unless or until these perpetrators are caught. For some of these persons, there were signs which were noticeable earlier in their lives. Some are mentally ill, while for others it may have been some traumatic experience which may have been the trigger that propelled them to a life of criminality and depravity. Yet, there are some who are just evil and for whom there are no explanations for their behaviour. The only solution is to banish them from society to protect the public. This book looks at some of these people who lived among us – their documented crimes are so disturbing that they must be labelled as evil. From the dreaded Heartman of the 1950s to the serial killers and rapists over the past decades, to the love affairs that turned deadly. Their crimes are unbelievably jaw-dropping. The book then ends with a discussion on some of the factors that may contribute to the creation of these unhinged personality types. There are also interviews with psychiatrists and psychologists on issues such as trauma, psychopathy and antisocial personality disorders; and finally a look on what the literature says about these individuals. Have a read – if you dare!!.
