About Cross and Burn

#1 bestselling author and queen of psychological suspense Val McDermid takes readers on an exhilarating, terrifying journey into the world of Tony Hill and Carol Jordan in her most accomplished thriller to date. Cross and Burn picks up where Val McDermid's #1 bestseller The Retribution left off: following the best crime-fighting team in the U.K.-clinical psychologist Tony Hill and police detective Carol Jordan. Guilt and grief have driven a wedge between the long-time crime-fighting partners. But just because Tony and Carol aren't talking doesn't mean the killing stops. Someone is killing women, women who bear an unsettling resemblance to Carol Jordan. The connection is too strong to ignore, and soon Tony finds himself dangerously close to the investigation, just as the killer is closing in on his next target. When the evidence begins to point in an unthinkable direction, Tony and Carol are forced to work together as never before, fighting to save not just the victims, but themselves. Val McDermid's work speaks for itself: her books have sold millions of copies worldwide, won numerous accolades and attracted a devoted following of readers around the globe. Cross and Burn is her most brilliant, spine-chilling work to date.
