About Crazy
“Well, the maid said you were the last person she saw him with.” John expressed his suspicion that his daughter was lying. However, John had no way of proving Sarah knew anything other than what she was telling him, which put him in a bind. The girl’s mother would question him, wondering why he hadn’t investigated Sarah’s story about Roscoe. As a result, he didn’t go to bed until late at night. “John, it’s late; please go to bed,” Caroline said to her husband on the stairwell of their three-story colonial home. But John couldn’t get his mind off his conversation with Sarah. The storm let out a thunderous bellow as it skidded across the sky like a stone in the pond. As he got further up the stairs, he reached out and placed his hand on the polished brass plate for the light switch. Another flash of lightning illuminated the living room. It made him pause, but he didn’t know why, and he continued up the stairs. The day began with a cloudless Sunday morning sky that was bright. The storm’s effects were barely visible on the landscape surrounding the property, aside from a few broken tree branches that the gardener had to pick up. Even though the day had begun normally, Sarah and Elizabeth had been arguing all morning. Caroline, who was watching the girls argue from a distance through the slits in the banister, told them she didn’t agree with their behavior. “I don’t want you to squabble all day.” She said this while shaking her finger at the twins. The arguing stopped for a moment. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed what she thought was Elizabeth, flailing her arms and screaming. (Sounds of a body slamming into a marble tile) “Thump!” They pronounced Elizabeth dead on arrival at Kirkland Memorial Hospital, which is only three blocks away from the Reynolds colonial-style six-bedroom-nine-bathroom 10,000-square-foot mansion.
