About Book of Blood
Catalina Gonzalez is not a witch. However, in 1619 Spain, as fear and superstition grip the land and witch hunts sweep across the country, her mother's profession as town healer raises suspicion. Catalina wants nothing more than to develop her own ability to heal like her mother and sister. When witch hunters close in, she cooks up a plan to protect her family, but her plan quickly backfires, resulting in the arrests of her mother and sister. Barely managing to escape, Catalina flees to the rumored cliff town for witches, finding refuge in the community and learning to develop her craft. It isn't long before she discovers that too-good-to-be-true witch town is just that-the soldiers who arrested her family arrive in town and are welcomed with open arms by the witches' most trusted leaders. Worse, news reaches her that arrests are turning into executions. Determined to save her family in prison, Catalina makes a deal with soldier Diego Tremino and the two strike a reluctant truce that blurs the lines of their relationship. With the help of her new abilities, will Catalina be able to save her friends in the witch town and make it back home before her family's time runs out?
