About Betrayed (a Financial and Conspiracies Thriller - Book 1 in the Legacy Thriller Series)

It's a weapon of war unlike any other. It has the previously undreamed of power to cripple an enemy's vital homeland services - to shut down their power supplies, their air traffic control systems or their banks. It could bring a country to its knees in just days. So far Angus Macrae has managed to keep it and his team safe, hidden away on a remote Scottish island. But disaster threatens when a mole at the heart of the UK government leaks their location. Now Igor Komarov, chief fixer to the Russian president, is able to direct his ruthless mafia allies to where they can steal the weapon for him. Macrae brings in a team of tough security professionals and also calls on Tom Traynor, a maverick ex-SAS ally who's used to dealing with people who don't play be the rules. But will they cope against the huge Russian state resources with which Komarov is backing the Russian mafia? This page turner thriller races from the Far East to Moscow, London and New York following the successes and set-backs of each side in the deadly battle to come out on top. Some hopefully helpful notes from the author : - The first book in the Legacy Thriller Series, 'The President's Fixer' is an introductory novella of some 32,000 words, around 120 pages in print. Despite being shorter than a full novel, it is a complete stand-alone thriller and covers the story up to the time just before the location of Athena is disclosed by the mole at the center of the UK government. The second book in the Series is 'Betrayed' and is described above. The third book in the Series, 'End Game', tells what happens when a powerful Russian Oligarch acquires the weapon for an altogether more sinister and devastating agenda. Will his secret behind the scenes pitting of the West against Russia be discovered before real war breaks out between the two of them? And what can even the ever inventive Tom Traynor do to stop catastrophe engulfing them all? Interview with the Author by local radio station. Q. - Why did you pick cyber warfare as the background for you books? A. - Although I realise that few are interested in computers or cyber-warfare, the potential devastation that a major computer malfunction or hacking disaster may bring one day soon to all of us, I think means that we should know a bit more about the threats we all live under. Q, - So, although fiction, are your books based on reality? A. - Very much so. Although the next great leap forward - quantum computers - is a technology still in comparative infancy, my books just speed up its development and the extraordinary and frightening powers that it possesses. Q. - Why did you decide to publish on Amazon and other eBook channels? A. - Even the immensely successful J.K.Rowling had her first Harry Potter book turned down by I believe it was a dozen publishing houses. With Amazon and the others like Smashwords, you just publish, as easy as that. And, for readers it is so easy to find what they're looking for. For example, on Amazon, they only have to look up Thrillers in books or be more specific, look under thriller ebooks for say action-packed thrillers, financial thrillers, or conspiracy thrillers to find a vast selection to choose from. My own books also come under sub-headings such as kidnapped or assassin for readers who particularly enjoy those genres.Q.- I read somewhere that there are literally hundreds of new books go up onto Amazon every day, how are people ever going to find your books?A. - I don't know is the short answer; I think it's difficult to make money in ebooks these days - unless of course you have a well-known name as an author or are a celebrity. For me it's reward enough when someone has liked one of my books enough to take the trouble and a few minutes of their time to write a nice review of it - yes, that's very rewarding - that and the unique, almost addictive experience of concocting thriller plots.
