About the book
About Beatrix and the Wooden Dagger
Beatrix Kennedy is a card carrying misanthrope, and she does exactly what she wants. Her narrative contains five seperate stories that span the course of her life. From disrupting a human trafficking route to blackmail in the theatre, to ghosting a serious relationship, Beatrix considers herself best when inflicting harm. Her voice reflects that of the medieval Vice figure, in that she addresses the audience with her honest intent before turning back to the story world and manipulating those in her way.The book plays with time in order to reveal more about the title character over the course of her life, and deals with themes of self sustaining narcissism. Genre elements of the thriller and satire are prevalent throughout. Beatrix is the antihero you'll love to hate.
