About the book
About A Father's Signs
The panic, the anxiety, the depression. It all started with a phone call no child should ever have to hear. And the call came to a full-time student at the University of California, Santa Cruz as he was midway through the final quarter of his first academic year. He was an eighteen year-old named Desmond. The nights leading up to the call were stressful, restless, and produced little sleep. Desmond's father was a year and nine months into his battle with melanoma skin cancer, and his mother called to tell him that his battle was nearing the end. He thought he would have another summer with his father, but all he got was three final days, which were the the most disturbing and traumatic for Desmond. After his father passed, his life took a downward spiral. Overcome by grief, Desmond struggled academically and emotionally. He even came close to losing his grip on life. It was only under the strangest of circumstances and even stranger occurrences that his life would finally begin to turn around.
