About A Bloodstained Fairytale
Don't move. No matter what happens, don't move. If you move, she'll hear. Just stay completely still. Careful as he was, his hand slipped when he picked up his toothbrush, and he froze. Every sense was on high alert, listening for any sign of movement from the bedroom. Silence. He took a slow breath, not too deep, and released it carefully, feeling his hands shake. He was safe. For now. He caught sight of his reflection in the glass and frowned as he looked at the figure in front of him. The dark eyes in the mirror were so much more than they seemed. They’d seen death, love, happiness, and despair. They’d held more pain than they should have ever witnessed, but behind that pain was a faint glimmer of hope. They had once believed in love and all it stood for, falling for the old saying that love conquered all. They'd believed in people, that there were still those who cared, that in spite of everything, people were inherently good. Now, they'd lost their shine, leaving behind a vast shadow, a mere echo of what they'd once been. “Josh?” Jumping slightly, the young man swore under his breath. She was back. With still-shaking hands, he splashed some cold water on his face and made his way out of the bathroom, trying to keep his fear in check. When he opened the door, she was standing with her hand against the door frame, a frown on her pretty face. “I’m really sorry about last night, baby. I just get so mad, and I snap sometimes.” He nodded, not trusting himself to speak. She brought her hand up to his face and he flinched. “Are you okay?” “I’m fine, Anaria.” Her eyes were kind, too kind. He didn’t buy it. “I love you, baby.” With a kiss and a swish of long hair, she was gone. Josh sighed and ran a hand through his dark hair, trying to calm his frayed nerves. He winced at the slight pressure and made his way slowly back to bed, crawling under the blankets slowly. A nap. That was all he needed to get his day back on track. Yes, a nap sounded wonderful.
