Horror
A zombie comic on the want-to-read shelf is a very specific sort of mood read. Not “fun” exactly, more that particular strain of dread where survival starts to feel like the whole plot and that is enough.

I’m curious whether The Walking Dead leans harder into atmosphere or momentum in volume 3. Sometimes the best horror is just people trying to keep going while everything narrows around them.

Survival horror can get oddly flat if it only chases grim momentum. I’m more interested when a comic uses the pressure of the situation to make the atmosphere heavier, not just faster. With a premise like this, the question for me is whether volume 3 gives the dread room to breathe, or just keeps tightening the screw.

Momentum can flatten horror if it’s all panic, so I’d hope volume 3 still leaves room for quieter unease. With zombie stories, the best bits are often the practical details: who gets tired, who starts making bad calls, who keeps pretending things are normal. That’s where the dread lives for me.
