Sonic the Hedgehog Archives is a proper time capsule. Early Sonic strips have all the momentum, bright colours and slightly unhinged robot nonsense you’d hope for.
Not subtle, obviously. But then neither is a blue hedgehog outrunning a bad idea.

That sort of chaos usually ages better than the stuff that was trying very hard to be “important” at the time. Early comics, especially tie-ins, can get away with a lot because they’re not pretending to be tasteful.
I’d be more interested in whether it still reads fast now, or if it only works as nostalgia for people who already know the setting.
