Science Fiction
A broken-down robot with an almost human personality is exactly the sort of premise that gets me in the door.
That’s the part of C.L.U.T.Z that stuck with me. Not the mechanics, really, but the character side of it. Once a robot starts feeling just a little too human, the whole book changes temperature. It becomes less about the gadget and more about who notices, who cares, and who treats that as a problem.
That’s why it’s still on my favourites shelf. It has that odd mix I like: speculative idea, but with enough heart to make it matter.
