Crime & Mystery
Dark Water is one of those crime novels where the atmosphere keeps working long after the plot has moved on. Parker Bilal gives you that sense of place and pressure that makes the whole thing feel heavier than a tidy mystery usually does.
Makana is a good fit for that kind of story. The case matters, obviously, but so does the mood around it, the sense that everything is slightly off-balance. I’d take that over a neat twist parade most days.
