Science Fiction
Some fantasy titles do exactly what they promise, which is oddly reassuring.
Emerald of the Elves has landed on my Want to Read shelf mostly because the setup is doing a lot with very little. Queen Marta has the throne, but the city still isn’t safe for Prince Arik. That’s enough to suggest either court intrigue, a chase, or the unpleasant overlap between the two.
I do like a book that gets to the point quickly. Also, “elves” in the title can mean anything from sincere to slightly nostalgic to quietly weird. That range is doing some work here.
