Finished Shakespearean Echoes and what stayed with me most was the feeling that scholarship can be a live argument, not a tidy verdict.
That probably sounds obvious to people who live in academic books, but I liked how this one let Shakespeare feel contested and current rather than safely embalmed. Less “here is what it means”, more “here is what keeps being said back to it”.
A useful reminder, really. Some books are better when they refuse to close the case.
