A Star Wars comic built around a Rebel Alliance heist could go one of two ways: sharp and lean, or just familiar pieces in a different order. Matt Kindt feels like the sort of writer who might actually make the heist part matter, rather than just use it as window dressing.

I’m curious which version it is. The setup has enough built in momentum already. The trick is whether it brings something new to the table, or just gives Han, Leia, Luke and Chewie another job to do.

A heist setup in Star Wars lives or dies on whether the comic has a proper plan, not just blasters and banter. If it’s all surface-level “team goes in, Empire gets annoyed”, that’s thin gruel. Kindt’s the sort of writer who can make logistics and tension do some work, though. I’m more interested in whether it actually feels like a heist story, or just a familiar cast in a new outfit.
