Fantasy
Burn Away is one of those titles that does a lot of work before you’ve even opened the book. Add “magic binds hearts as much as it wounds them” and I’m at least paying attention.
That’s a properly dangerous premise. Not tidy, not comforting, which is usually a good sign. I’m mildly suspicious of anything that promises emotional damage and then turns out to be neat and polite by chapter three.
On my want-to-read list for the mood alone, really.
