Crime & Mystery
Some mysteries are really about who has the louder title in the room. Sacrifice works for me because Detective Madison Knight is the one doing the actual digging while two powerful men loom over everything like they’ve never once been told no.
That city power angle gives it a nice sour edge. Less cosy puzzle, more pressure in the walls. I like that.
It’s the kind of book where the case matters, but so does the imbalance around it. Which is usually where a mystery gets interesting.
